Text: About This Film

In 1977, a 13 year old girl, Megumi Yokota, disappeared whilst on her way back home after school. For years her parents had no idea what had happened to her - had she been kidnapped? Run away? Was she still alive? Then the unlikely truth came to light. Megumi had been kidnapped by the North Korean Secret Service to serve as a ‘cultural study object’. Using archive footage a sensational crime story emerges interwoven with the plight of her family at home in Japan.
