Mr. Lowry
- Director: Leslie Woodhead
- Running Time: 26 minutes
- Country: United Kingdom
- Year: 1963
- Theme: Art, Human Interest
A beautifully observed portrait of Lowry in his home town of Pendlebury - from where he painted the ever changing industrial landscape around Manchester over the course of 40 years. His paintings, with their renowned matchstick figures, were not an instant success and it was not until much later in his life that he achieved the recognition he deserved. We watch him as he paints in his homely, untidy studio, sketches in the middle of Manchester, and works out his frugal finances, in an England, scarcely recognisable, 50 years ago.
